Privacy Policy

Effective October 2, 2026

Hey DJ 4U (heydj4u.com) works without an account. This policy explains what happens when you use each part of the site.

Stored on your device

Your Top list, settings, daily game progress and stats, bracket picks, party name and a random party ID, and a cache of song lookups are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device. Clear this site's data in your browser to remove them.

Your music files

“Match my music folder” reads song tags from your files inside your browser. Your files, their names and their contents are never uploaded.

Previews and Apple Music

To find a song, your browser sends its title and artist to Apple's iTunes Search service and streams previews from Apple. If you connect Apple Music, you sign in with Apple directly; Hey DJ 4U never sees your Apple ID or password. Apple gives your browser a token that lets Hey DJ 4U play songs and, when you ask, create a playlist in your library. We don't store that token on our servers. Apple's handling of this data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Parties

When you join a party, the name you type, a random ID and the songs you request or vote for are shared with the host and other guests in that party. Party data is deleted automatically after 12 hours without activity, or when the host ends the party.

Bracket votes

When you submit a bracket, we store your picks as anonymous totals. To stop repeat voting, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address for a short time; we never store the address itself.

Advertising and affiliate links

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where required by law you'll be asked for consent first. Some Apple Music links include an affiliate code so Apple can tell us when someone subscribes through Hey DJ 4U; Apple doesn't share your identity with us.

Fonts and hosting

Fonts load from Google Fonts. The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

Children

Hey DJ 4U is a general-audience site and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children.
