“Call Me” by Blondie was the biggest hit of 1980, finishing at No. 1 on the year-end Top 100 ahead of “Another Brick In The Wall” by Pink Floyd and “Magic” by Olivia Newton-John. The year-end chart ranks the songs that performed best across the whole year, not just in a single week.

18 acts placed more than one song on the list, led by Michael Jackson (3), Kenny Rogers (3), Donna Summer (3), Eagles (3), Billy Joel (2). 1 of the 100 were holdovers from the 1979 list, so 99 songs were new to the year-end chart.

The 1980s: the sound of the era
